Sedation

Going to the dentist no longer needs to be a scary thing! "Sedation dentistry" has opened the door to many patients that were, in the past, too afraid to get the care done that they needed and wanted. The Life Smiles team can provide you with the comfort and relaxation that you desire.

Anti-Anxiety (Laughing Gas or Nitrous Oxide)

For some, a minimal amount of sedation is appropriate and this is usually accomplished with nitrous oxide. This can help you to relax during your procedure but you will still be awake and responsive. There is no need for someone to bring you for an appointment with laughing gas.

Depending on a person's needs, we may also give a small pill for additional relaxation. This is done in our office and requires you to be accompanied and driven home.

IV Sedation

For certain cases, IV sedation is the best choice for you. This is a deeper level of sedation where you will likely not remember anything about the procedure. It is done right in our office and your sedation will be monitored by Dr. Rajaski while Dr. Little performs the dentistry for you. With this type of sedation, entire mouths can be treated at once without discomfort to you. Following this level of sedation, you will need someone to bring you and take you home.

IV sedation works well for patients who:

  • Feel extreme anxiety about dental procedures or going to the dentist
  • Have trouble getting numb
  • Suffer from a strong gag reflex
  • Are fearful of needles and sounds of dentistry
  • Simply don't want to remember their dental visit
  • Need to have complex dental procedures
